There are some essential practices that need to be engaged to attain the deepest experiences of peace and insight in silent meditation. But these practices are general in nature. The can be adapted a wide range of beliefs whether you believe in God or not, or are not sure one way or the other what to believe. What is needed is at least a willingness to further explore core teachings and practices.

The realization that meditation instruction can be adapted to the doubts and truths of the believer rather than asking the believer to conform to all of the views of one particular faith tradition is one of the most important insights in the First Global Period of history we are now in.
